Fuckin' Kinks all day today.

Good weekend though.

Friday night....Friday was weird. I let my beard grow in, which was a mistake, and it was bothering me all day. So, friday, I came home, went to my appt, then came back home to shower and shave. It felt SOOOOO good to be cleanshaven. But I more or less cut my chin open, which sucked. I was supposed to go and have fish and chips with [livejournal.com profile] opiateslopes too, but we disconnected on directions. So, when I figured that was fucked, I hopped back in my car and went to see my 'rents. I'm lucky, I think. I get on really well with mine. We sat and watched a movie and just kinda decompressed. I got home and realized I'd left my keys in brooklyn. So first, I rang the bell. No one came, so I figured my roomie was knocked out. Wrong. He came to the door AS I LEFT. Which sucked. I was on the Van Wyck by the time I got to talk to him. I turned around, got back to the house, and got the spare set. Which was nice, so I could come and go as I please. The next day, I was hanging out with some friends who were up from baltimore. It was SO nice to see them. :) Justin was my college roomie for a semester. We went to the Bronx Zoo, of which I have photos that I will post later. :) They were COOL! We then went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is the sex. I LOVE art. We walked the medieval halls, looked at tons of religious art...I feel so christian today, let me tell YOU! There was also an exhibit on the court of Catherine the Great. I didn't realize the link between the french intelligentsia of that time period and the Russians. Intriguing, and something to pursue intellectually.

SUnday was....weird. I worked out, then came home. I had an appointment at three o'clock, and I figured even if there was traffic, I'd have time to spruce up the living room and dining room at least. I came home to a livid roomate. He basically told me I didn't do shit, and when I did, it was half assed. Now, I admit that not everything got done in the apartment this week, but I'm not even HOME most nights till like 11. AND I cleaned up most of the apartment the previous sunday. AND most of the mess is from his cats shredding cardboard boxes in the apartment. AND I'm sorry that I'm not there to clean up on sunday mornings. I was really shocked, because my intention was to come home, clean up some, and then shower. He was so livid that it took fifteen minutes to actually TALK about it. It turned out there was a lot that was bothering him that wasn't immediately obvious. We talked about it, and things were better.

He.

Actually.

Apologized.

I explained to him that I understood that the house was a mess, and that I was going to do my part with it. But coming out of his face about it and accusing me of not doing ANYTHING was beyond the fucking pale. I was coming home to do housework. That's what I do when I come back from working out. He totally understood. I lent him the car to go get his girl, and then just kinda settled in. I was supposed to see Justin and Crystal, but my appt on sunday was late, and we talked for a GOOD while. So, I told them to get on their way, and I would finish what I needed to do there. I took care of lots of business, including bills. I'm happy.

So here I am. A couple days older.

Everyone, pop quiz: Recommend me a good book.

I have the dream cycle, I've read "Through the gates of the silver key" many times over the years. I bought my copy before Gaiman's current popularity.

Mine, of course. When I get it done. And published. ; P

Actually, though:

Black Elks Speaks
Sophie's World
Wide Sagrasso Sea

Any of Raymond Chandler's novels, but go for the good ones if you know of any (or ask around--reading a less than adequate one first might not be so hot)
The Fifth Sacred Thing

I have more but that'll do for now...

Steven Brust, Agyar. A contender for Best Book EVAR, for reasons that can't be adequately explained without ruining a bit of the fun.

Roger Zelazny, A Night in the Lonesome October. More fun than a stick can conveniently be shaken at.

Gregory McDonald, Confess, Fletch. Fast-paced mystery, with two fantastic characters.
