I've been a fan of the Fallout series for years.

Like...I remember when the ads started coming out for Fallout in all my favorite RPG rags when I was in college. Funny, it was supposed to be based on the GURPS engine. I remember thinking that it would be awesome to have a GURPS electronic game. Well...it turned out to be a hell of a lot more. Fallout is one of those games that sticks with you. The people who like it, well, they really get into it. Fallout 2 was possibly the best piece of electronic entertainment I've ever had. No joke. It's quality in so many ways.

The folks who put out the first two were developing a sequel, code named Van Buren. Unfortunately, it never got too far off the ground, as the company went under. Bethesda, the folks that brought us Arena, Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Oblivion, bought the rights. And god help me, if they fuck this up, I will slay them with my Red Ryder BB Gun. OF DOOM. It's the whole OMFG STOP RAPING MY CHILDHOOD thing that seems to be coming up in pop culture a lot lately. The Dukes of Hazzard film, all these remakes of old TV shows, they really...I dunno, they take something you love and they hurt and cheapen it by doing it again, but without all of the spontaneous fun of the original.

So Yeah. Fallout Tomorrow.

There is nothing more satisfying that watching the critical hit of a YK42B Pulse Rifle. There are few franchises that have done what Fallout has done - it is the standard for post-apocalyptic CRPGs. From its origin as Wasteland (which I still play) it has stuck with me too through the years.

Now's not a good time for me to pick up a game that potentially engrossing. But I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. :)

Heh. The game store we went to in search of a Wii this weekend (Wiikend?) had a huge fiberglass statue of the cyborg from Fallout 3.

Me: *knocks on it*
Andy: Who is it?
Me: Oil can.

But yeah, hella big.

And the raping of our childhood moves onward and onward... I hope they do it justice!
