May. 12th, 2008 05:05 pmThe cover Seger Liberation Army did of 2+2 by Bob Seger beats your band's best song. That riff kills. KILLS.

So, let me explain. I'm a BIG Tom Potter fan. One or...three? of you will know who that is. For the uninitiated, Tom Potter was the fuzz bassist for the Dirtbombs for Ultraglide in Black, possibly the best record I own. He was also the singer for Bantam Rooster, a truly underrated guitar/drums combo that was active for a good while. Potter says the band never broke up, just never put out any more music. Deal Me In, their first record for Crypt, is a completely deranged fuzzy distorted feedback laden dream of a record. I love it. Sister Nicotine and The Manner in Which I'm Accustomed off that record are amazing. Seger Liberation Army were a combo put together just to perform Bob Seger songs from his somewhat rougher period before Night Moves/Against the Wind, etc. SLA were a real all star team, with Pat Pantano and Jim Diamond also from the Dirtbombs, one of the dudes from New Bomb Turks, and a guy from a band called the Clutters. I don't know him. Fact is, though, they make a glorious noise all together. Potter wails, Diamond and Beldin(the Clutter) cut up on guitar, Pantano and Jim Weber make you want to shake your ass, and the volume makes my car doors shimmy shake.
So, to reiterate my point above: The cover Seger Liberation Army did of 2+2 by Bob Seger beats your band's best song.
