Oct. 13th, 2007 10:12 amI saw the Joy Division biopic Control last night.
Holy mother of god.
Anton Corbijn is brilliant. It's gorgeously shot, impressively acted, and actually quite funny in many places. I was pleased with all the shots I remembered from 24 hour party people. Sam Riley, who plays Ian, displays this level of despair and pathos that I found gut wrenching at times. It's amazing how silence can display emotion just as forcefully as words of any kind. Craig Parkinson plays Tony Wilson...like the daft cunt that he was purported to be, scarves around the neck and all.
I'm just happy Jude Law is not in it.
