I just finished watching 24 Hour Party people.

Thoughts:

Tony Wilson was a real dumb bastard in some ways, but would you understand what I meant if I told you that the ways he was dumb liberated the things he did? He was able to transcend the profit motive with his record label and club. However, in doing so, he managed to bankrupt said company.

Example? New Order's 12 inch, Blue Monday, cost the company five pence each time one was sold. Think about that for a minute. It cost the company money to sell these records. they didn't make any money. They lost FIVE PENCE ON EVERY copy. In a just world, said record would have gone away quickly. However, this is not a just world, and New Order still holds the record for the most copies sold of one 12". *laughs to self sadly*

Steve Coogan is FUCKING brilliant as Tony Wilson. I love the self referential bits. Y'know, talking to the camera and all that. That's probably not what being self referential is. But that's okay too.

I also have rented "Say Anything", to continue my recent 80's binge. There will, however, be no purge.

I have to go to work morrow. Who thinks I ought not go, say AYE!
