That was a hell of a night.

Well, it was a good day too. I got up kinda late and was mopey. Too much sleep/being out of sleep rhythm does that to me, and I was all headachey. So, I decided to hit the beach later on in the afternoon than I usually go. Spent about an hour there, wnet in the water a little bit and hung out on my blanket, reading the new James Rollins. Pretty good stuff. Better dialogue than the old Cusslers I used to read. Had to quit that shit when Clive started to suck like the prom queen. I called [livejournal.com profile] ntang from the parking lot, just to set the time when we'd meet up. Cos it was derby night, and we had tickets, dammit. Got home, showered, got dressed, called my friend Liz who I hadn't seen since...we determined it was "years" and left it at that. It very well could be five years since I've seen her. We talked for about twenty five minutes. It was pretty darned pleasant I have to tell you. Not sure how she felt, but I know how I did!

I hopped in the car, then to the subway, then got out at Nick's place, and we tromped up to CCNY for the bout. Even getting in was that much fun. The girls at Will Call were really awesome. I don't have a manhattan mayhem shirt, and I'm thinking I may have to buy one, just to rep Manhattan for their niceness. We were talking about the next bout, when I said (out loud because I have no interior monologue, unlike here) FUCK! I have a wedding to go to! One of the girls, quite rationally, suggests "have them get married at halftime!" I explained the western new york problem of it all. Then another girl, apparently hearing part of the conversation, asks, "Who's he getting married to at the next bout?" I explained there was no candidate, and, bless her soul forever, she said "Use the program as a catalog, and pick one."

I think I may have fallen in love right there.

So, then we got stopped by one of the Bronx Gridlock girls on the way out, Daisy Chainz I think. And we got to talking (I was in some weird social zone last night, don't ask). Already, I was enjoying myself just being a little sociable and not feeling as cruddy as I had. The match was fun, Queens beating Brooklyn like a redheaded stepchild (as it should be). OH. And, I went over to merch, got to talk to Brigitte Barhot again, which is always a pleasure. And then I went over to the other table. It was for the halftime entertainment, this drama/comedy troupe called "The new york neo futurists". They do a show at the Kaine Theater on friday and saturday at 1030. Failing other plans, I believe I'll be going to that on friday night. At the table, I got to talking to some of the players about the last halftime entertainment (which was a big fat bag of suck, lemme tell ya).

So, I bought some raffle tickets, they do a 50/50 at the matches these days. Gave heath five, took five for myself.

So they're calling out the numbers. And they get into the ten ticket strip I bought.

And I fuckin' won. $224. Supplied my booze, dinner, and a cab ride.

WE went to the after party at the Ding Dong Lounge, which was fun, but crowded and loud, and altogether too dark for this guy. Apparently, pounding the last rum and coke I had was not a good idea, as I was good for not too much at all at that point. And I was really tired. I knocked out on the couch at Nick's for a coupla hours, then went home.

Like I said. Good day, good evening.

That does sound like an excellent time.

Next bout we both go to, we should all party down after. Going home right after the match felt a little tame to me last time. ;)

IMHO-The bar was too crowded and too dark. Gimme one or the other, but both make me feel clausty.

Oh, Sir... how you carry on!

Much like my imagined red posterior, I am indeed blushing.

I think I'm gonna' go have a mint julep and fan myself on the porch to get rid of these vapors. ;)

Sounded like fun! I was going to make plans with a couple of friends to head out to Tampa to see the Derby Darlin's league, but the independent factors in the experiment are money and a car.

(and I never win raffles, you're a lucky dog!)

Once you're somewhat less convex, we can go together. Want to meet your husband! You can meet my army of extraordinary magnitude!
