I did that after September 11th. Best decision I ever made. But then, I had my mother to live off of, so that made it easier, of course.

I definitely advise doing so. By the time we're old enough to retire, who knows what will be available for us to live off of.

I would absolutely consider it. If it's anything like what my bf was offered, I'd jump at it. In her case, she was able to take a couple of years to go back to school and not worry about $$. Take the package, live the good life for a few years and enjoy! Then go back to work like the rest of us slubs. :)
