This has been an interestying weekend.

Friday:

We left for the convention at 7:30 am. I didn't get enough sleep, but I made an effort, and managed to be well rested for the trip. My car, for those uninitiated, is a 1993 Ford Taurus. I've had small troubles with it, but never anything REALLY large. Well, no. That's not totally true. But it's served me well, even in lousy weather. So, we're driving. We get to 17 on the way upstate, and things start to get weird with the car. It's not shifting gears right. That, and the snow was coming down, fierce-like. So, we get off of 17. In monroe. The car starts slipping and sliding every chich way. We end up in a snowbank. I tried to rock the car out....yes, I know, with the tranny acting up, not my best idea. So, we're not moving....and then the wheels will no longer spin. You Lose, Homeboy. We get towed to a local transmission place, where they get it running, barely, and take a look at it. He shows me little metal bits, explains that this might be a problem, and tells me in order to find out what's really wrong, he will need $300 in the long run. This is my car. I like my car, and intend to keep it, so I say yes, do it. Eventually, we get to a local diner, and call enterprise, which is right in monroe. They come get us. I go to the shop with the guy, sign lots o paperwork, and get everything moving. We all sit down and eat, and the guys tell me that they still want to go. We'd all just be at home, stewing. So, we decide to go upstate and go to the con anyway.

Saturday/Sunday

Had a great time at the con. Got to see all of my upstate peoples.

Today:

Just found out. The car will cost me $1700 to fix. Looks like I will not be eating anything but ramen for a while, peeps. Wish me luck. :)

Eek.

Arrgh, says I.

Well, at least you and your crew made it back alive and hopefully in one piece.

If you eventually come to the point where foraging becomes necessary, I'll send you something.

So sorry, babe!

btw: have you checked the value on your car lately? Is it worth putting that much into fixing it?

Listen, you.

Eating with you would involve driving to maryland. Do I look like I need to be driving real far in my car right now?

Bon Apetite
