Well, Chilan is obviously the root of the Southern slang for children, aka chillen or chillun. And since the Mayans lived south of here, it makes sense that they'd be the root of all Southern slang.
As far as the Yax part, well, obviously Mayans were color blind as Yaks are clearly neither blue nor green. But we'll let that go - that color blindness is probably what led to the decline of their civilization, and I don't want to rub that in as it's probably a sore point.
