Feb. 23rd, 2005 10:27 amI know I've said many times that I hate my job.
here's why I like it.
I am good at it. Not just a little good at it, good enough at it that people with years, LOTS of years, come to me and ask me how to do things right.
They respect me. When I need something, and I ask for it, I get it. In turn, all I have to do is come in on time.
If I ever want it, there's room for advancement. It's not something I do really seek out, but still. I could in theory do so.
The people are really cool. The phone company, if I wrote a comparative ethnography with the rest of the world, seems to have been a repository for women and other people who wouldn't fit into a typical american workplace. I've never seen such a high percentage of women and minorities in leadership positions. Indeed, I'm a minority here!
