I'd prefer a bigger HDD, but otherwise not bad at all for the price. s:)

I take it the 128 MB is RAM, not video memory? How is the video memory? (Please don't tell me it's sharing the rest of the PC's RAM...)

256mb of DDR. Sorry, should have said.

Well, I have a HDD, and there was the option to upgrade.

Maybe pick up a second, bigger drive down the line for data backup? (My favorite form -- if the OS gets hosed, you don't have to worry so much about "OMG when was the last time I did a backup and do I have to go buy 50,000 floppies because I don't know if my burner is going to work properly!")

Not that it negates the need for backup CDs/DVDs of data, just makes it independent of OS issues. s:)

Oh, I have my HDD that I'll be slotting in there, along with my burner. My old system is getting scavenged.

Dell has these removable HDDs available...but they're like $200...and I'm not prepared to spend THAT MUCH MORE right now.

Throw that (http://www.slickdeals.net/#p5748) in and another stick of memory and you've got yourself a decent 'puter there. ;)

Who made it?

My buddy rich. Comes with a 3 yr warrantee on the hardware, plus any software I want.

It does need memory, and I have SDRAM in my system and will need to buy another stick for it.

And the box he built it in is mighty pretty.

No deal, IMO. Unless you've got some serious computer gaming or other graphics-heavy stuff you haven't been telling me about, the video card is overkill (and probably comprises most of the value of the computer) while the hard drive is massive underkill. The only other question would be who the manufacturer is.

In other news, you seen the Shadowrun PDFs they've started selling?

Woah. Scratch the value comment on the video card; I was not aware of how much VRAM the lower-priced models had nowadays.

The mobo+chip combo's prolly worth at least half of it, plus the graphics card and the choice of whatever softs I want.

And no. I haven't seen the srun pdfs. I'll take a look. The mobo+chip combo's prolly worth at least half of it, plus the graphics card and the choice of whatever softs I want.

If you find it's performance better and at the least more satisfactory, than yes. The gigs are a bit lacking, my laptop has 18, and it's from 2000 , but at the same time you can easily get more.
