I'm reading Simon Winchester's book about the eruption of Krakatoa.

Amazing. Simply amazing. I love these novelized non fiction works about historical events. I've read one about the life of Dr. John Dee, one about the creation of the OED, Simon Singh's works on math and crypto, and now Winchester's book about Krakatoa. I love geology as a rank amateur does, I have this book and "Annals of the Former World" in my bag right now, and I really find myself enjoying this stuff.

But I digress.

1)Reply to this post if you want/need me to tell you how cool you are!
2) Watch my journal over the next few days for a post just about you and why I think you rock my socks.
3) Post these instructions in your journal and give your friends a much needed dose of love and adoration!

Caveat 1: If I don't know you very well, I'll do what I can.

I'm curious to see who responds to this, honestly.

1) She has the prettiest, softest voice ever. No joke.

2) One tough chick. I don't think I could deal with what has happened to her, and she doesn't blame everything on someone else. And she's dealt with it like a champ.

3) We may not always see eye to eye on music, but I must say, there are very few people more passionate about their music than her.

4) Even after some of the bad stuff she's gone through, romantically, she still believes in love and loving people. That's more badass than her being tough.

Ah, why [livejournal.com profile] ladyjendifi pwns.

1) She's really well coordinated. She may not always come off that way, but man...you try tossing a rifle in the air and catching it.

2) Her frankness. She will, eventually, get around to telling you exactly what she thinks and what's pissing her off. She doesn't cover up.

3) Well read. I'm thoroughly impressed with her depth and breadth of reading, and that should say something, if you know me at all well.

4) It doesn't matter how long it's been since we've talked, we can sit down and resume as if nothing'd happened.

The kitten.

Ah, [livejournal.com profile] kittenhasclaws.

1) Zevonfan.

2) She's an amazingly resilient person. Unless you're on her flist, you'll never know the whole story, and indeed, I probably don't either, but she's grown up to be, emotionally anyway, much tougher and stronger than I can even imagine.

3) She's frank about her dysfunctions. I wouldn't tell the world half, nay, a tenth of what she does. It's endearing, and it makes you like her even more.

4) A truly talented writer. Her darkness is expressed better in words than mine is, and I'm impressed with that. Duly impressed.

For ms. [livejournal.com profile] listenshesings

1) I love that someone can just (electronically anyway) tug on your sleeve and ask for attention with no pretense or anything. It's fun to chat with her that way.

2) She's forgiving. And my....I've needed that trait more often than I can count.

3) She can accept that I want to kill James Taylor and not hate me. Which is helpful, truly.

4) She's discovering herself in so many ways, and it's really amazing to be her friend and pseudo experience these things for myself. I find myself cheering for her and wanting to be her more often than I can count.

For Cheli.

[livejournal.com profile] chelipunkass.

1) She's an enthusiastic booster for so many local bands, I can't even tell you. Without people like her, local scenes would suck so badly.

2) Beneath the sarcastic exterior, she cares and loves very very deeply.

3) She's a fierce defender of her friends and her sisters. She's damn near beat people up for messing with them, and I admire her for it.

4) She's the one who taught me that it's more fun to walk in the city, because you see more. I took it to heart, and walk most everywhere these days.

[livejournal.com profile] aliasa is a truly....different individual.

1) She's evil. Like, not rubbing your hands together Mr. Burns evil, but a subtler, antagonistic, make people you don't like go away sort of evil. If I ever need someone rubbed out, I'll call her, methinks.

2) She is a bloodhound for good pastry. Whenever I'm curious about desserts, who do I call? yeah, it's ms. a.

3) She's another person who's dealt with personal trauma in a way I can admire. And has managed to snag herself what sounds like a decent gent.

4) And all the pictures in her icons are her. And I can testify to the fact that she looks better in person. ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] ecwoodburn is far too cool.

1) She knows me. I mean...really knows me, knows me from a time that was kinda dark and bad. When I wasn't quite so adult and grown up about people.

2) She gives a fuck. I mean, if I called her tomorrow and said I needed a place to crash and cry for a couple of days, no problem. Not at all. Done. Very little in the way of questions.

3) She likes cats almost as much as I do. at least I think she does. And she named her cat Epiphany. That's awesome.

4) She's computer geeky and music geeky at the same time, which is also teh cool.
lwoodbloo: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] sisterred is a friend above friends to me. And I hope no one's offended by that.

1) She forgave me.

2) Amazing taste in music. I love that when I say something about music, she can come right back with something she likes, and we totally concur most of the time.

3) HATES JAMES TAYLOR!!!!!!!!

4) Well read. Like, ridiculously well read. Like, recommended something to me that I'd never heard of and ended up loving.

5) Is unafraid to be "corny" and "uncool". She likes what she likes, and screw you if you don't like it. Wants to see Cats on broadway, and no matter how much I make fun of her for it, she still does. Rock.

6) Is psychic.

Didn't I send you a top ten of this once?

[livejournal.com profile] cheshire23

1)The first person that made me think out of the box when it came to people.

2)AJ GMs, and role playing games start to feel like acid dreams. Which is a good thing.

3) One of the few people I know to unironically enjoy the moody blues.

4) One of the few people I've actually gone to a party with (oh so long ago).
lwoodbloo: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] tinklovesbell

1) Good taste in music. It's important, y'all.

2) Another cat lover. Also important.

3) Someone I'd talk to more if I got the chance to do so.

4) She's not janie sushi.
