Some rousing lyrics.

Time has come today
Young hearts can go their way
Can't put it off another day
I don't care what others say
They say we don't listen anyway
Time has come today
(Hey)

Oh
The rules have changed today (Hey)
I have no place to stay (Hey)
I'm thinking about the subway (Hey)
My love has flown away (Hey)
My tears have come and gone (Hey)
Oh my Lord, I have to roam (Hey)
I have no home (Hey)
I have no home (Hey)

Now the time has come (Time)
There's no place to run (Time)
I might get burned up by the sun (Time)
But I had my fun (Time)
I've been loved and put aside (Time)
I've been crushed by the tumbling tide (Time)
And my soul has been psychedelicized (Time)

(Time)
Now the time has come (Time)
There are things to realize (Time)
Time has come today (Time)
Time has come today (Time)

Time [x11]

Oh
Now the time has come (Time)
There's no place to run (Time)
I might get burned up by the sun (Time)
But I had my fun (Time)
I've been loved and put aside (Time)
I've been crushed by tumbling tide (Time)
And my soul has been psychedelicized (Time)

(Time)
Now the time has come (Time)
There are things to realize (Time)
Time has come today (Time)
Time has come today (Time)

Time [x4]
Yeah

And now for some seriousness.

1) Remember all that energy we roused for involvement before the election? Keep it. Store it. Focus it. I admit I was not as assiduous as I should have been. I will remedy that.

2) I will NOT Advocate for moving. Neither will I advocate for secession, however much I may be thinking about it.

3) We need to demand better from our media. That means no more crossfire. No more O'reilly Factor. I want real discourse. I want every news show to ask the questions Imus does. Imus has no fear. He'll ask people about things like...remember when there was that dustup about kerry sleeping with an intern? Imus straight upped him about it, didn't dance around. I want that. I need that. I'd watch that.

4) Do NOT get disheartened. We've got to remain strong. We can't give up because then they truly will have won.

5) It all starts today. Or soon anyway, as soon as we know what's going on forreal.

6) Even if things change and Kerry wins, we need to put pressure on for the changes we want and need. Complacency gives us the last four, and possibly the next four years.

Dude, this is hands-down the best thing I've read so far in reaction to the election. Good for you. :)

I agree. More on that later.

But that's almost likening Bush to the terrorist organization - like they wanted him to win.

I'm not. Much as I'd like to, I do not think that the bush cabal intends to do evil. I think they truly believe they're doing the right thing, which makes them truly scary.

Hey El,

Just want you to know that I liked your post. I'm not disheartened, I'm thinking about what I will do to fight back. But I'm also thinking about moving to Canada (Vancouver and Halifax are high on my list). I'm likely going to have a couple kids during the next four years and I don't expect to have much energy left over for political action. I'd like to raise them in a country that already is aligned with my values.

I am also not willing to pay for Bush's screwups. A deficit of $7.4 trillion and a new Congress that is willing to raise even that cap -- sorry, I don't plan on paying that back while Haliburton and Enron CEOs own multiple resort-homes and my kids don't have a decent school.

Canada already has better newsmedia than the U.S. You can access the CBC online at http://www.cbc.ca, as well as the BBC at http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/.
