That last post was originally private. it was going to be one of those self critical pieces of shit I write occasionally. you know, all feeling sorry for myself, and it must obviously be my fault that things are the way they are. I am to blame, I am bad.

But then I sat and thought for a while. The day I make a serious effort, I think things will improve. What, do I think things are going to just fall in my lap? Never happens. Whenever I have wanted to do something, I applied energy to it, and things have happened. Simple as that. This too will happen only when I decide I want to make it so. No ifs ands or buts about it.

~He who gives himself up like a prisoner of war must give up his weapons as well. And deprived in advance of defence against a possible blow, he cannot help wondering when the blow will fall. That is why I can say that for Franz, love meant the constant expectation of a blow.~
-Kundera

Yup, I agree completely. It is very, very rarely that good things just happen spontaneously. You have to work for them.

Just ask Karl Rove - he's been working his butt off for someone absolutely worthless, and it's been working. Meanwhile, a candidate that's actually worth voting for is losing ground.

So if Bush can get elected, and not only that do everything he's done since being elected and still have people like him, then dude, you could SO get some. You just need to get your mack on.

(And I'm inclined to say the same is almost definitely true of any other endeavors in your life. It's not as if you aren't intelligent or decent or good-hearted. Remember, people without any of those qualities can make it to the most important post in the country, and if they can do that, you can certainly achieve almost anything you want. You just need to want it enough. (And in some cases, be a multi-millionaire.))

Heh. It took me a few minutes to figure out how, but I managed it.
