Aug. 18th, 2004 10:38 amY'know, the RSS feed for get fuzzy is gone, and I want. Anyone got a clue to whassup with that?
I went to the Larry Levan 50th birthday party at spirit last night. Most of y'all know I don't do the clubbing think much, more like ever. But this was work for lifebeat, and I've always wanted to work a club outreach. This was the one to do. It was fantastic. Great vibe. White people do not know how to party. The...maybe i need to give some backstory. Larry Levan was the house dj at a legendary dance club in nyc called the Paradise Garage. Larry's style has influenced club music until this day. The clientele at the garage was predominantly hispanic and black, and gay. The music's better than crappy techno, and the vibe is so much more open and friendly than what I've been told about clubbing in the city. hey, maybe I'm wrong, maybe there are plenty of spots to go where it's not pretentious and the people don't suck. But Spirit last night was ri dic u lous. Ridiculous. I left at like 11, and I was told by my friend J that he left...oh, at about 8am. That's awesome. I couldn't hang like that. I have to find a way to get more rest and sleep more, because it's a night like tonight that I'm going to suffer. Yep, tonight is the first crime and judy show, my friend Keith is the bassist. I met keith and his wife janet two years ago at a dictators show. They come to the city every summer for their anniversary, and when I saw keith last year he told me about the band he'd joined, and I promised to come see them. They're interesting. Female harmony/disharmony vocals, metal guitar, ace bass, good percussion, and a violinist that doesn't suck.
