Funny, I was just talking about Lucas' directing abilites with a friend the other night. I had rented Shattered Glass and found that Hayden Christensen can act, as long as Lucas isn't directing.
Actually, Obi Wan talks about fighting with Anakin in the clone wars in A New Hope, so that was pretty much on track. And the Emperor rising to power and starting the Empire while using Vader to exterminate the Jedi was pretty much accepted continuity long before the prequels came along. It all pretty much adds up the way its supposed to.
Also, am I the only one who didn't despise the prequels? Yeah they've got rough spots, but they're not total train wrecks! I can see the good in them. :)
A friend of mine posted a link sometime ago on LJ to a fucking brilliant multi-part essay on how the Star Wars storyline got so fucked up as it is. I need to find it, seriously.
Brilliant, brilliat dissection I've been meaning to show to my boyfriend for some time. Go for the stuff under the "Little Orphan Anakin" header, and yes, the chapters are out of order intentionally, I suppose.
