Rudy Giuliani's in the news again. I'm a new yorker, obviously. 9/10/01, Rudy was an asshole, a racist, and cheated on his wife beforehand. 9/11? If you were mayor, you would have done the SAME THINGS that he did. Why are we lionizing him? I'm baffled that the rest of the nation seems to think he's some kind of angel. Do you know how he treated Patrick Dorismond? The guy was propositioned on a buy and bust, the cop wouldn't leave him alone, so he tossed the cop. The ununiformed cop kills him, and Rudy BACKS THE COP, and in addition, reveals confidential information from the guy's jacket. Yeah, he had problems in the past. That doesn't make it okay to shoot the guy like a dog in the street. Let's not even start in about Amadou Diallo, either.

I just want all these people, in new york state and those who want him to be VP, to understand what you're getting. He's not some war hero. He's someone who wasn't doing all the right things before 9/11 happened, and someone who I think did what he had to do, nothing extraordinary.

Let's not get started about some of the internal stuff that if you don't live in this city you don't know about. He's a corrupt insider politician, people. And please, don't tar me with the clinton brush, people. Because that seems the de rigeur for anyone who denigrates a republican politician in this country. I didn't approve of what Bill did in the oval office with Monica. I'm a believer in remaining faithful in marriage, or getting the HELL out. Unless there's some preexisting agreement. But I don't judge the person. I just feel like that's what I'd do. Obviously not having done so, I can't say 100%.

And yes. Hillary's a carpetbagger.

Thus endeth the sermon.

Christopher Reeve is an Asshole too.

Christopher Reeve is an asshole, because he's giving all this money to spinal paralysis funds, but only after he himself became paralized. He never cared before hand, so why is a man who's just trying to save his own....neck, being called a hero?

There a few... points I'd like to express.

Dorismond. Okay, so Al Sharpton and the Daily News villified the cop and made Dorismond out to be a Saint? Hardly, but they did take liberties.

What does it feel like to confront someone, while undercover, who may take your life...every day? I sure as hell don't know.

Just because there were accounts... and just because their were "reports" doesn't mean that I take the cop and throw him to Sharpton's CLU lynch mob.

A crooked cop, day to day, is doing more good with his gun and badge than anyone else who isn't.

Do we know whteher or not that cop saved someone's life just moments before? Or the day before? Prevented a rape? Rescued someone's mother?

One decent act is hardly enough to make up for a lifetime of corruption and crookedness, but one foul deed sure as hell can mar a reputable cop's past.

Guilliani backed the cop. You know what dude, when Dinkins was in office NYC, even my neighborhood wasn't someplace all together safe.
There was alot of freedoms people took under the reign of Koch and Dinkins, they both ran the place into dirt because Koch didn't keep with the times and Dinkins was an idiot, imho.

Were you in Geneseo during Dinkin's run as boss? I dunno, I remember the several times I got mugged during that times... and I also remember it abruptly stopping alltogether when Guilliani began to run things. Things began to fel safe again.

It comes from growing up in Bensonhurts during the time when John Gotti lived nearby. The fact of the matter is, no one fucked with your block because the mafia was nearby. Guilliani reintroduced that.

Was Rudy a great mayor, or a saint? NO!!!
I'm not saying that.
I'ms aying he was a fuck of a lot better than Dinkins.
Bloomberg can prove himself, but he's gonna have a time of it doing it.

In the end, any Respectable Mayor would have done comparable of a job, but any Mayor didn't Rudy did.

If we can kick him in his face when he's wrong, fine.
Butw hile it won't make up for his misdoings, we can give credit where credit is due.

Who did do all the right things?
No one's perfect and we're allowed to make mistakes...

Insider Politician, you betcha, but from alot of people i know..

(Mostly Brooklyn-ese types) that's what we needed.

When you use your power to hammer people who you don't like, and Rudy did it CONSTANTLY, I don't think that's what we needed.

Giuliani used information in dorismond's police file to discredit the man. That's not right. And the way it went down sucked. He shot an UNARMED MAN, coop. Dorismond thought the guy was messing with him, and he was trying to stay straight. And this guy kept coming and asking if he wanted to buy crack. So he tossed the guy aside, told him to leave him alone. And got shot for it.

Credit? Do me a favor, Aaron. Be black in this city during Guiliani's administration, see how well you get treated. I'm tired of people venerating this guy like he's some deity. AND let's give credit to the economy during the Giuliani administration. There was money, so he could do the things that he did. Not so during the Dinkins adminsitration. Oh yeah. And he managed to PUT us in the current financial hole we're in.

And yeah. I did live here during the dinkins administration. I was here for the Crown Heights riots.

my point is, no one's perfect.

I hate it when people pose oppositional dialoges yet...

do you have any thoughts on somethings that can be done for positive change in NYC?

If so, fuckin aye, Post em', email em', Lets go Vote!

Most people just scream bloody murder, and kill the pope, but don't wanna get active, myself included.
But i think I'd like to change all that.

If Rev. Al hadn't screwed the pooch with the Tawana Brawley thing, I'd vote for him.

But he's a liar, a thief, and a hypocrite.

Bring back John McCain.

I Know, I know. he's a reagan conservative, fiscally. Which does NOT please me. However, I think he's open minded at the very least on many of my issues, and agrees with me on many more. I do not feel like he's singing the party song on a lot of issues, which pleases me further.

You do have a point there. And given a choice between the current state of our union and John McCain... well we all know what I think of Dubya.
