That's similar in thought to a Van Gogh (one of my top 5 favorite Van Goghs):

I know of this van gogh. I think Zevon may have patterned it after the painting. But Van Gogh did not have the advantage of snazzy aviator shades.

Welcome, by the way. How did you find your way here?

Via [livejournal.com profile] trueromance78.

I'd never seen the Van Gogh until I went to the museum in Amsterdam. I bought a whole stack of the postcards of this piece to give to my smoking friends. No one's quit yet, though... :)

*hahahahahaha*

That's how zevon said he contracted mesothelioma. Too many silk cuts in too many smoky clubs. Keep it goin'.

Pleasure to make your acquaintance.

They put asbestos in Silk Cuts? That explains a lot. ha ha!

Pleasure to make your acquaintance as well!

Well...

Asbestos is linked to the Mesothelioma here in the US, but it's just a form of Lung cancer.

Silk Cuts... There's no filer, and the paper is crazy thin.
It's like laying tabackey on yer lip, lighteing it, and breathing in...
or using your lungs as a hookah.

Nah, no asbestos. But any fibrous material=meso, AFAIK.

Yeah, I know. I guess cancer jokes aren't really funny, are they?

Sure they are.

Can't be taking it too seriously.

Zevon himself said that his strategy of not going to the doctor for twenty years might just have backfired on him.
